Help me give my students the experience of hatching chickens. I have been hatching chicks for the past 12 years and my incubator has finally given me it last.
This Still Air incubator is a perfect replacement.
Every year for the past twelve years, as part of the "bird unit" I hatch chicken eggs with my class. My incubator has given its best and now needs to be replaced.
During these experiments, students learn all about birds, their needs, and in the case of chickens, how they provide us with eggs and meat.
Additionally, there is a math component as we calculate hatch rates. Students also learn to respect nature and understand how their needs (food, shelter) are met in nature and our human impact on those needs.
The entire elementary wing (preK to 5th grade) participates with hatch rate predictions and a visit to see the chicks. Many of my students would never have this opportunity as we are an urban Title One district. Please help me provide this experience for my kids. Thank you in advance.
