it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
"Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic," said Arthur C. Clarke. To my kindergartners, a computer is like a magic vessel! They can read books, play a game, or find information...all with the touch of a button.
At my urban public school, my kindergartners don't have access to much technology.
None of my students have a computer in their home and few have had the opportunity to use a computer on a regular basis. For children living in poverty, access to a computer is a dream.
My Project
You can help this dream come true! By donating to this project you will provide students with a Netbook computer and external DVD/CD drive that will allow them to access literacy games online, create typed versions of their writing, build fine motor skills through manipulation of the keyboard and mouse, and have fun at the same time! A computer is a novelty to my kindergartners. I can't even fathom the excitement they will experience as they begin to see how much can be accomplished on a computer!
Please help these kindergartners become exposed to technology that they won't encounter in their home lives.
Technology is a huge part of today's world. It is important to start preparing these children for success, even at this early age, so that they are confident and ready to enter a high-technology world.
