This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The use of whiteboards and highlighters is almost a daily activity in my classroom, especially in math and reading, Using the workshop model in math, students use whiteboards for guided practice and to record modeled strategies. The whiteboards allow me to see exactly what they are doing, as well as provide an easy place for them to show and share their work. What becomes a problem is the fact that the markers never seem to last, and erasers seem to disappear. Highlighters are used daily in the Close reading process, and these tend to dry up and disappear.

Teaching students to be organized is key to helping students be successful!

Folders keep the students' work organized by subject. If the students put their work in the correct color folder, time is not wasted looking for it when it is needed again. This is key, since the students sit at tables and store their items in a shared cart.

Laminating sheets protect the students' work when it is displayed. It helps my students take pride in their work, knowing I am going the extra mile to protect their work or art before it goes in the hallway.
