My Project
This project is part of the continued modernization of the the Science Lab. You will rarely find a triple beam balance or a hanging pan centigram balance out in the real word. While knowing how to work with the antique balances is useful, it is not what you will find in any self respecting lab or working in industry.
Students should learn on the equipment that they will use in labs the rest of their life.
Digital balances are easy to use. Press a button, set the material down, get your result. Students won't need to move three or four sets of sliding weights to balance out the material. This makes quick work of measurements required for lab activities. Reagents for chemical reactions can quickly be measured with a digital balance. It is also speeds up learning about mass ad density. My goal is to provide real world experiences to students as often as possible, a digital balance is real world equipment.
