We need a motherboard, hard drive, wifi adapter, case and more so we can build a computer which will be a great learning experience. This will help our technology skills.
These students are extremely interested in computer science, and they would like to build a computer! Building a computer is a wonderful learning experience where some of the club members can share their expertise with other club members who are still learning.
The students developed this project idea because they would like a computer specifically designed for their club to use on a regular basis. Computers at our school must be requested for use ahead of time, and there are times when they are not available. The students would like a computer that they can use whenever they would like and they would like the experience of building one on their own.
The students will develop team work skills as they work together to build a computer. Additionally, the students will learn how to build a computer, which, as you can see from the "shopping list", is actually more cost effective compared to buying a computer that is already put together. These skills will help them for college and careers because they are learning several social-emotional skills such as teamwork and real-life problem solving.
In Their Own Words
Our project idea is to build a computer for our club. The process of building a computer will help us to learn even more about the uprising world of computers. We will use this computer to do even more stuff as a club. Our goal is to build a successful working computer as a team.
I, using my teacher's help, will be a leader in bringing this project to life with our club. I will make the most of this leadership opportunity by learning about building the computer. The skills required to help others in building a computer include leadership skills. I believe that in my future I will use these skills in college mainly.
This project is important to myself, our club, and my school community because I feel that technology is a great achievement in our history. This project will show that even kids under the age of 13 can build and do whatever they want when they put their mind to it. This challenge that I will solve is not having a computer to do things for our club with.
