My Project
I am a first-year teacher blessed with the best students this year! My school was very generous and gave us the extra furniture they had, but we needed a new small group table. Ours is too big for my students even though it is lowered down and it is hard to reach them to work in our small groups at times. We work with dry-erase markers most days and the marks are constantly getting stuck in the cuts and scratches all over the table. We are so appreciative, but I think it is time for us to get one that can work better for our needs.
We do small groups for reading and math every day, so our small group table gets a lot of love.
My students thrive off of working in small groups and being able to work together at their level. They are all so kind to each other and cheer each other on while we work hard in our small group. I would love for them to have an area that is not too tall and can help us focus and learn during our time together.
I am also asking for a sensory table. Kindergarten in my state is very rigorous and standards-based. We are lucky and have a center playtime in the afternoon, but I try to incorporate play into our learning as much as possible. I would love to be able to use the sensory table for word work activities while they are working independently in reading. I would also like to incorporate science and social studies into the tubs for math and reading as well. This helps add fun and play into the day!
