This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My two classes are full of inquisitive third graders eager to learn. They are part of a bilingual program known as EFL, also known as, English as a Foreign Language. My students are constantly ready to take on fresh information and learn something new. Most of them are new to the country and are always full of questions, wanting to know the world around them in a new language. Their curiosity is invigorating and refreshing, and it is contagious among our classroom community.

In my class, and in this program, my students get to learn and practice skills in an environment that requires them to get their "creative juices" flowing.

My Project

Our classroom has an economy system to encourage positive classroom behavior. Students receive points for being positive role models, working well in groups and helping our classroom community. As well, students can also have points deducted if they misbehave in class, are off task or disruptive during small groups. Those points turn into dollars at the end of the month were they can then spend their money in our class store.

The items I am requesting will help improve our current classroom economy system, encourage positive student behavior, as well as my students' knowledge in financial literacy via books and games.

The pencil pouches will be used as wallets to hold students money properly. The cash box will be used as our class store register, and toys will act as incentives they can purchase when our store is open for business.
