My school is located in a low-income neighborhood with scholars from diverse backgrounds. Nearly all scholars qualify for free school meals.
Despite socioeconomic disadvantages, our melting pot of scholars possesses a positive outlook on learning.
Each child is unique and deserves quality resources and experiences that will shape their future.
We are a Title I school; however, it’s often a challenge to find funding to purchase materials and resources. Basic classroom supplies and technology are in high demand in our school and our scholars deserve to experience high-quality education and resources.
My Project
I am requesting a home, bedding, climbing ladder, treats and readers so my students can learn about our class pet hamster - Sir Chicken Nugget. Studies have show having a class pet impacts scholars in many ways. For example, having a class pet enhances school attendance, engagement within the classroom, promotes classroom discussions, and reinforces empathy. A class pet also teaches scholars about responsibility, and how to care for a living thing. Sir Chicken Nugget is our classroom hamster. Scholars look forward to seeing him daily, and take pride in caring for him.
