My students need addition and subtraction games as well as materials such as a variety of dice, reusable write and wipe pockets, number lines and a class counting chart.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our class loves Math! We spend ninety minutes a day engaged in learning new skills as well as playing "Just Right Math Games" that help each student develop skills at their level.
Our class is full of energetic, amazing children who come from various socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds.
They are motivated learners who need challenging activities, projects, and ongoing fun games. Math is an exciting part of the day where children learn through hands on and interactive math activities.
My Project
Math is most engaging when everyone is able to participate. I have found dry-erase boards to be a great tool to get all students to take part in whole class lessons and activities. Our students play a variety of math games which include teacher made, commercial, and computer games. Teacher made games are best kept in re-usable pockets; making it easier to store away or adjust as needed.
Through the use of materials such as dry-erase boards, math games, and computer games, our students will continue to be engaged and motivated to learn mathematics concepts.
Other tools such as magnetic number lines and number grids will aid in the presentation and understanding of new concepts taught during whole class and small group work.
