My students need Complete Set of Eyewitness non-fiction Readers in the classroom. The book baskets will allow the students to take many books to their seats or reading area to preview and read.
Reading is a part of every subject in our school! Our new Common Core standards include a lot of non-fiction texts and we would love to have more available in our classroom The students enjoy learning about non-fiction and making connections to things in their lives. We would benefit with more books
The students in my class are awesome!
They appreciate being at school and really love their school. They will do anything that will be at their benefit of learning. They want to learn, and that is why they are so interested in non-fiction books. They enjoy the outdoors, and many of them are involved in extracurricular activities outside of school. Our school is like a family, and we are all here for the same purpose. Our purpose is to love these students, and teach them as much as we can before the next year.
My Project
During our language block, we have many reading stations. A partner reading station, a read to self station, a listen to reading station, and a teacher table. Reading is a big part in our daily schedule. I have several book shelves in my classroom with baskets of books. I want the students to have more baskets to choose from so they never become bored with reading. I want the students to be able to choose books that grab their interest. With these book baskets, they can keep them at their desks, and read throughout the day during any extra time. The students will be able to read more non-fiction books during each block of the day. They will have math books, Science, and Social Studies.
By helping support this project, the students will have more options during reading time.
They will be more aware of non-fiction texts. The students will be able to complete more of the state standards by having read more non-fiction books. The students will also be able to use these books to do research on a topic of their choice. They will be able to have their own book baskets at their desks. Our class would love to develop our own non-fiction library. Our own "believe it or not" library!!
