My Students

Our school is an area where almost all of our students qualify for a free or reduced lunch, but you wouldn't know it by their smiling faces and infectious attitudes! It is truly a joy to be teaching them. Even during the pandemic, all of our k-2 kiddos are here every day, masked up and ready to go!

As an art teacher, I want to support their learning in any way that I can with interdisciplinary lessons and trying to make things as much fun as I can so that they really want to come to school.

Incorporating science or social studies into art helps our students learn that everything is interconnected so everything they do here is important! We are trying to create a sense of what being an artist means by getting students involved with what's in the world around them and what they personally have to do with it.

My Project

This is a STEAM project through and through! From the analysis of what makes a guitar work and the science of sound production,to the engineering of the design and the hands on build this project really rocks!

This project will introduce my students to the joy of playing a musical instrument!

Our students will create an authentic Delta Blues cigar box guitar that they can play and enjoy for a lifetime of enrichment!

Art is interconnected with science and history and engineering. This project demonstrates that on so many levels!
