Our Children, The Future Leaders of Tomorrow

My students need a set of exemplar books, especially since the NYCDOE has been coming down with the new Common Core Standards for testing.

My Students

"Be the change you want to see in the world," was once said by Mahatma Gandhi. Our students are our future leaders of tomorrow. It is important to provide all the educational needs our students needs to help them succeed. Especially, in a classroom where their are students with special needs.

Our classroom is an ASD/Nest classroom with 2 teachers (1 Special Ed, 1 General Ed).

It is a Co-Teaching classroom and we have 12 students who are general ed and 4 students who have been diagnosed on the Autism Spectrum. They attend a NYC Public Choice School.

My Project

These resources will change the lives of our students because it helps gage their interests in the subject areas they would like to learn more about. It also provides them with hands-on resources that they can use during center time. Many of our students are visual learners and love to read so all of these resources would be greatly appreciated. The books that were requested are aligned with the new Common Core Standards that have been implemented Nation Wide. This would help our students in helping them prepare for the Statewide Testing once they enter 3rd grade.

My project is so important because I strive at being the best educator I can be.

I notice that my students have certain needs and wants and I would love to be able to provide for them what they need to help them stay engaged, focused and continue loving school. Especially, since these students will help run our country one day.
