My Students

Hello! My name is Trisha and I am a school nurse. This will be my 23rd year in this profession. I really enjoy what I do and know I have made a difference in the lives of many students.

With the uncertainty of COVID-19, I feel it is crucial to have a portable HEPA filtration unit in the nurse's office.

My school is a Title I school without many resources. The health office is very small, one room with an HVAC A/C system which cycles the same air over and over. There is no window of door that can be opened for fresh outside air. This increases the chance of students and staff getting the virus.

My Project

Being able to provide a safe environment for both students and staff will greatly reduce anxiety and worry of contracting COVID-19 when we return to in person learning.

Our school has several self contained classrooms with children having multiple, severe disabilities which will make it nearly impossible to practice safe distancing and wearing masks.

These students are not good at preventing the spread of germs as they do not cover sneezes or coughs. Some are also spitters. Having circulated, filtered air is necessary in order to keep everyone safe and healthy.
