My Project
Each of you has a carbon footprint. Your carbon footprint is the amount of greenhouse gasses that are emitted in the air because of your activities. Many activities contribute to your carbon footprint such as heating your house, how you get to school, and how much trash you throw away. Some activities emit greenhouse gasses directly, such as the gas from the tailpipe of the car or bus you take to school. For other activities the greenhouse gasses were emitted elsewhere, such as at the factory where your TV was made or at the power plant where the power for your lights is generated.
The Department of Science and the Department of Social Studies are starting the Climate Justice: Green Heart Challenge and we will be participating in this district wide challenge.
So, therefore we will be trying to make our 7th grade class a Zero Waste Class. We will need recycling bins to get this started and continue with being more aware of the footprint we leave behind.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
