My students need a warm, cozy and calming spot for their classroom library. I aim to provide my learners with a welcoming and serene reading environment-free of distractions, allowing students to relax and read.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are an amazing group of kind hearted and loving group of kindergarten and first graders. They have an incredible passion for reading and exploring the world around them. Sadly, our school district does not fund schools evenly and this greatly impacts not only the school at large, but our class individual instructional materials and resources. All obstacles aside, my kids show up for school each day with full hearts and an amazing eagerness to learn. I hope to provide them with a love of reading that they can develop and foster in the classroom and keep with them throughout their lives.

My Project

I am requesting a comfortable and soothing colored rug for my classroom library. I want my students to relax and enjoy reading in a bliss-filled environment that is not only grade-level apporiate, but inviting as well. A welcoming and relaxing classroom library is great way for my students to get acclimated towards developing independent reading habits and will pave the way towards reading for pleasure.

This rug is spacious, comfortable, soothing in aesthetics and is a wonderful alternative to reading on a hard wooden floor.

The bean bags will provide comfort, fun and help my students learn to relax and take their time as they read.
