My Students

This year I have 25 eager 1st grade students. Our elementary is a wonderful neighborhood school. The community blesses our school with amazing family volunteer participation. What we are lacking is technology. We have one computer lab for our whole school. We have a laptop and one iPad in our classroom.

I want to inspire my students to work both independently and collaboratively.

They are spirited, inspiring and joyful little people who deserve to experience the innovations and education that technology can bring.

My Project

Technology is a huge part of our lives and technology skills will make my students marketable in our changing world.

Osmos are so versatile!

Students will attach the Osmo to our existing iPad in our classroom. We will use the OSMO kits for a variety of interactive, engaging activities everything from numeracy to spelling. More specifically students will be able to work on things like number identification, comparing numbers, spelling, sight words, and much more. Our Osmos would be used during small group time. Students would have access to these materials multiple times throughout the day.

The Osmo has coding capabilities as well. Coding skills are thought to be a more valuable computer skills, it teaches problem solving and perseverance- life skills that every child needs to become a successful adult.

We currently own 1 laptop for my classroom. We would like to purchase Chromebooks for small group work. If there were more mobile devices added to my classroom, such as Chromebooks, more students would be engaged which would allow me to work with small groups to continue to move students forward.

Students are eager to work with technology and tend to thrive when it's at their fingertips. Please help me get more technology into my classroom!
