My Students
Who says school can't be fun? In my class, I strive to make learning engaging and new for my students each day. My students use a variety of materials and resources to help ensure that they are successful.
My class is filled with adorable second graders with a passion for learning and a love for school.
My students come to school ready to learn and often times don't want to leave. My school is a Title I school in West Virginia with limited resources. We have a high percentage of students who receive free or reduced-price lunch.
My students have a special place in my heart, and I cannot imagine teaching anywhere else. They want to succeed. They want to please, and they want to learn. They just need the means and someone to root for them to know that they can do anything. It is the best feeling in the world to see their eyes light up when they finally get something that they have been struggling with.
My Project
These OSMO Genius Kits will allow my students to use their district-provided iPads as part of our center rotations to reinforce their math and reading skills. Our students need reinforcement, and the OSMO's provide a way for them to learn while playing. Students live in the world of technology, and OSMO helps them to use technology in a way that helps them build skills.
What is wonderful about the OSMO kits is that they speak to kids in their language.
They allow students to play while they learn.
The OSMO kits help to teach STEM in a way that our students haven't seen thus far in our school. OSMO helps students explore math, science and technology in a very hands-on way. OSMO goes far beyond "play" to truly build STEM and critical thinking skills, especially for our younger students.
Coding is becoming critical in our world. We need to infuse these skills in to our students so that they can move on to middle school, high school, and real world with the ability to interact with the technology that is all around us. We want to start a coding club at our school, and the OSMOs will enable us to move the STEM capabilities beyond the classroom. We want all of our students to be aware of computer programming careers, and all that is available to them.
