Osmo to Build Math and Computer Science Literacy

My students need 2 Osmo numbers games and 3 Osmo coding games. These games will allow my students to practice their math literacy and coding skills while keeping them engaged.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are second graders from a high poverty school. Our students are very inquisitive and love science, math, reading and hands-on and fast-paced projects; however, funds are limited. We are looking to expand our computer programming resources.

My students need Osmo resources to engage them while they learn vocabulary, math facts, shapes and computer coding.

Exposing them to various technologies that are available while they are at school will help them in the future when they encounter new things. I strive to get my students to work creatively and collaboratively, and the Osmo allows them to do both!

My Project

The second graders at my school will use these Osmo supplies to build literacy. Using Osmo words will help us work on vocablary and spelling patterns. Using Osmo numbers and tangrams will help us practice our match facts and learn about shapes. By using Osmo coding, the students will be able to explore coding in a hands on and engaging way.

Using Osmo is a great way to increase student literacy in math, reading and computer science while allowing them to learn and play cooperatively.

Osmo focuses on critical thinking, while engaging students and giving them a hands on tool to use.
