Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. My students are learning in two languages, as they are part of a dual language program. I want to provide my students with the resources and materials they need to succeed in this world which is quickly changing in the age of technology.

I have 19 students in my bilingual homeroom class.

They are all at different levels and stages in their learning and are sweet and amazing kids whom I want to provide every opportunity for success. Many of them come from low-income homes and are English Language Learners. My goal is to close any achievement gaps as every one of them has the ability to succeed.

My Project

I am asking for 3 Osmo Genius Kits, one Explorer Kit, and a Coding kit for our classroom. OSMO is a fun interactive way for children to practice math and reading skills. It also introduces them to coding. OSMO is playing beyond the screen, it invites students to collaborate while manipulating at tables or on the floor with tangible game pieces such as number tiles, letter tiles, and coding blocks.

My students will use the Osmo Genius Kits in their daily math and literacy centers, as well as during Science time.

Osmo fosters learning in key areas such as creative problem solving, art, STEAM, and the Common Core standards.
