This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are very deserving and thankful for every opportunity given to them. I teach Math and Physical Education at a Kindergarten through 12th grade school in rural Alabama that serves 861 students. 66% of our students are minority students. 100% of our students receive free school breakfast and lunch and some students receive food over the weekend through a volunteer based Blessings in a Backpack program. Despite many hardships and obstacles, my students are hard-working and determined to succeed.

My Project

An Osmo is a unique educational gaming accessory that transforms an iPad into a tool for infinite learning opportunities. The Osmo allows students a hands-on way of combining manipulatives and technology! Fractions and tangrams on the iPad app become more real world applicable rather than just working worksheet after worksheet or reading about an abstract topic out of the textbook. Osmo works especially well to give a visual representation of what is being taught and is another tool to use with special education students and English-language learners. I would greatly appreciate your consideration of this system for my deserving students!
