Our school corporation is a rural district trying to equip our students with the skills and experiences to be successful in our ever-changing world. I have the privilege to teach first grade in our small rural district.
My first grade students are excited about the world around them.
As their teacher, it is my goal to create opportunities to make them curious about the world around them. My goal is to empower them to ask questions and find answers. My students are world changers.
My Project
I am requesting and Osmo kit and a compatible iPad so students can learn while building and experimenting. Kids play math without the pressure of time or the fear that they’ll get the wrong answer. Osmo’s real-time feedback lets kids learn through experimentation in a stress-free environment.
Osmo fosters learning in key areas such as: creative problem solving, art, STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) and common core.
I would put the Osmo kit and compatible iPad as a part of my math workshop rotation. I am hopeful that I can pilot the system and then get other teachers and the principal on board so more Osmo kits can be brought to classrooms! Students need to think critically and creatively!
