My Students

My students come from a disadvantaged area. Each student receives free breakfast and lunch daily. My students are so energetic about learning. They try their very best all the time and that makes me so proud of them. They don’t all get to experience a lot of new and fun things when it comes to technology. We have one iPad to share in the classroom and one cart of Chromebooks we share with the other 5 first grade classrooms.

My first graders are really interested in technology and enjoy using the small amount of resources that we currently have in our classroom.

I am working very hard to bring more resources into our classroom.

My Project

We got an Osmo kit donated to our classroom by our local fire company. We need some Osmo add on kits to have the students be able to use it. I sat with a student that has used the Osmo at home and he helped me pick out the best add ons and kits for our first graders to thoroughly enjoy their new system. This system will be used in independent time and for extra help with students that may need help in improving their literacy or math skills. The students will also be able to work in small groups during recess time to use it. The Osmo kit will help students practice both their literacy and math skills during center time and independent time. They can practice sounding out, spelling, and reading words. For math they can use it to practice their addition and subtraction skills.
