Organizing The Year

My students need binders to help stay organized. They will use these for their notes, parent communication, reading logs, and help sections.

My Students

I love our students! All of them, even those that aren't in my classroom. They try their hardest and love being in school. Most of our student often come from low SES environments and some are ELL students. Many of our students face hard times at home and school is their stable place. We offer them a safe and consistent environment. Our school, like many others in Arizona, can't afford items necessary to help them succeed.

A key to their success is first teaching them how to be organized.

When our students walk in on the first day of school we want to set a welcoming environment. We want to show them they have a place that is all theirs. Two binders will be placed on their desk. One AVID binder for their personal notes, and a second with agenda, reading logs, and a help section.

My Project

Our project will help the entire 5th grade class. Binders and dividers will be use for AVID notes and helpful resources. We will have the binders ready for our students when the year begins. We will teach them from day one how to stay organized. Our students often bounce around at home and school is their consistent place.

Teaching students organization skills at this age will help them succeed in years to come.

Very often students get lost in Jr High when they move from class to class. Our goal is to set a good foundation for them. They deserve this chance to start off the year successful.
