My students are energetic and creative. They love coming to music class twice a week. We're a Title I school with many musical opportunities. We have an after-school choir, an after-school world music drumming ensemble, band and orchestra. Almost every grade level performs in a special concert once a year.
Music gives my students a creative outlet during their day.
They are often in the driver's seat of their class. The students decide where to take a lesson and how to improve their musicianship as individuals or as a class. They have opportunities to try new things in a supportive atmosphere and can refine their musicianship in areas they feel they are strong.
My Project
We need some items to help us keep our classroom organized and efficient. We have an old utility cart that gets in the way of our movement and instrument space when in use. A smaller, shorter cart will allow us to use Google Slide presentations without our vision being blocked by a tall cart in the middle of the room. New Expo dry erase markers will help us create our own musical compositions and write and read rhythms. Storage tubs will help us keep our small non-pitched percussion instruments clean and easily accessible, instead of being in a heap on a dusty shelf. Kid Spots will give my students specific places to sit for various musical activities.
We have a limited amount of time each week for music classes, and we strive to be as efficient as possible with our time.
These items will make a huge difference in our classroom and will help my students become the best musicians they can possibly be.
