Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are enthusiastic but often lack the motivation to work on their classwork. They also need support with English speaking and listening. Most are English Learners and are struggling in their English Language Arts class.
My students come from a diverse school in a large city.
Part of the school is a magnet with students from all over the city. My students, however, are comprised mainly of residential students from the local low-income neighborhood. Most are English Learners as well.
My Project
We serve the students breakfast in the classroom every day. Our serving area becomes very messy and needs organizing. The shelf will open up the table top for the breakfast beverages. The clear holders will let the students see and retrieve the breakfast supplies they need. Currently, the breakfast area and supplies become messy every day; so these organizers will help will the classroom appearance and clean up. Also, every year the 9th-grade classes read the classic play "Romeo and Juliet."
The students need Shakespeare and costumes help bring the classic play alive!
The nurse's hat will be used as a prop or costume in student re-enactments of the play.
