Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I love that my students bring curiosity, determination, and heart to everything they do. As a special education teacher, I have the privilege of working with learners who see the world differently and bring unique strengths to our classroom. My students thrive when routines are clear, and materials are accessible, and I want to build an environment that supports their independence, focus, and confidence. With the right tools in place, I can help them unlock their potential and meet their individual learning goals.

Organization is not just helpful—my students need to access learning.

Many of my students have learning differences such as ADHD, autism, or processing disorders, which can make it difficult to manage materials, remember routines, or stay on task. A color-coded storage system will help keep classroom materials organized and easy to find, reducing the stress and confusion that often accompany disorganization. Providing these items will give students ownership over their workspaces, making transitions smoother and minimizing the time spent searching for items. These tools will support not only academic learning but also help build executive functioning skills, such as planning and time management.

What makes my special education students so special is their resilience and the way they rise to challenges with courage and determination. They work incredibly hard for every success, and they deserve a classroom environment that works just as hard for them. My goal is to create a space where all students can learn comfortably and confidently, utilizing tools that cater to their individual needs. With your support, we can make a classroom that honors each student's unique journey and provides the structure and support they need to thrive.
