My Students
I have the honor to teach some of the most creative, positive, outside the box thinkers. These kids are amazing! I get to come to work every day and know that I work side by side with artist... not when they grow up... artist now. These five to eleven-year-old students inspire me with their actions, conversations, and energy. I'm so lucky to be able to manage an Art Studio for these inventive children.
In the Art Studio, student's have the opportunity to move, invent, create, and problem solve.
They drive their own learning. Choices are offered to guide their learning, but every student has the ability to create their own experience. This allows them to shine in the visual arts world in a way that complements their unique abilities and style.
My Project
Our elementary school's parent organization has committed to purchase a sketchbook for every student in the 3rd grade each year. The purpose of the sketchbook is to document their growth and discovery throughout the last three years of elementary school. Our current 3rd and 4th grade already have their books and they are well organized, but with a new group next year receiving sketchbooks, I will need to organize about 150 new books.
I want to make a space for my students that is organized and clear so that students will be able to find the creative materials that they need easily.
With these bins, I will be able to clearly label each classroom and table group. This will allow my students to have access to their sketchbooks throughout their time in the Art Studio and even when they are not in my classroom. They will know where to find their sketchbook easily. This will allow my students to be self-sufficient.
