Help me give my students containers to place counting collection counters and clear reusable dry erase pockets to make recording math facts fun and engaging.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Students visit the math lab to gain additional support and receive strategies that can be used in their general education class. My students come with so much determination to catch up and simply need opportunities to demonstrate knowledge of benchmark standards.
One of the most important skills for our students to develop is counting objects using one-to-one correspondence.
With your support, I can organize all the counters in transparent boxes enabling students to decide which counters to choose from. These small containers will also allow students to have their own counters in their desks facilitating learning.
One-to-one correspondence allows young students to assign a number to each object counted. Students do this by touching or moving the object when counting, which is why your donation is so important in helping my students gain number sense. As students continue to gain number sense, clear plastic containers allow students to organize their collection of counters into groups of tens, fives, or twos.
