Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Teaching in a low-income/high poverty school district provides many challenges. The students in my classroom come from very diverse backgrounds but they have one thing in common...their thirst for learning in a nurturing and developmentally appropriate environment. They desire an environment that provides ample opportunities for active learning to take place while they are challenged and explore through the use of hands-on activities.

We provide rigorous instruction that enables our children to achieve academic excellence while building the social and emotional skills needed to become well-rounded individuals.

My goal is to offer my students experiences that they would not ordinarily be exposed to. I strive to provide them with hands-on materials that will inspire them to interact, investigate and explore. They love books, technology, and manipulating the environment through their senses. Together we make learning fun and successful.

My Project

As we return to the classroom we must safely individualize materials for the students. Additionally, we must present the learning in a manner that captivates our young learners visually and engages them physically with manipulatives.

I strive to provide resources that will help my students develop hands on learning and academic & social awareness as they interact, investigate and explore materials at school.

The storage containers will be used to provide each student with individualized materials in an organized and safe manner. The felt board and dry erase boards will be utilized to actively engage the students in cognitive and social-emotional lessons as they refine their early developmental skills. The manipulatives will be used to enhance their critical thinking and mathematical skills.

With the help of these materials, I am able to safely sort my students' learning materials while actively engaging them in the learning.
