My students need classroom and organizing supplies like pencils, a pencil sharpener, and binders in order to provide them with the support and intervention needed to address their lack of organization skills.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
"Miss I can't find it! I know my homework is in here somewhere!" This is something that I hear too often. My students struggle with organization. They need the skills, tools, and materials to learn how to organize their class notes and assignments. I teach at a Title I school in the urban L.A. area.
The majority of my students are on free or reduced lunch.
Many of them do not have the funds to buy the materials they need to help them be organized. Organization is a life skill that will help them be more successful in school. More importantly, it is a skill that they will continue to benefit from in the future when they continue onto college, and later enter the work force.
My Project
My students face on a daily basis the challenge of disorganization, and it is impeding their academic progress. They often rummage through their backpack looking for their homework, are unprepared for class, leave things at school and home, or forget what assignments they need to complete and procrastinate. Disorganization increases the potential for students to receive lower grades, complete fewer assignments, be less motivated, experience greater frustration with school and may affect their self-esteem. Some of my students do not have the means to buy the materials needed to help them stay organized, while others may not have the materials because they have not been taught the importance of being organized.
By donating to our project, my students will be supplied with the necessary materials to ensure a successful intervention that will help them develop organization skills.
My students need a comprehensive program specifically focusing on organization in order to help them achieve at their greatest potential. It is my goal to teach my students the skills they need to be organized, and provide consistent reinforcement and re-education throughout the school year to make those skills concrete and habitual. With your support, my students will learn organization skills that will help them become successful scholars.
