My Students
My first-grade students have all be assessed and placed in a Gifted and Talented classroom setting. They come from a variety of backgrounds. Our school has great diversity in many areas. I am teaching math and science this year. We work at a faster pace than the traditional first-grade classes. Our students come to school each day eager to learn new things. They desire to build relationships with their teachers and peers. They are a fun and energetic group of children that are always ready to take on any new challenge.
My Project
I teach math and science to two different classes of first graders. The group that comes from another class needs a place to keep their math and science supplies for the day. Having an organized system will help us all get more work and learning done in a day.
Teaching organization and responsibility to these young learners is a big focus for us during the year.
We do this in a multitude of ways. The biggest thing we do is hold them accountable for being ready for class each day with their supplies. We set them up for success when their supplies are in one place that is easily organized and accessible throughout the day.
