This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I provide services for children of various grades with speech and language impairments in grades kindergarten through eighth grade in an inner-city, public school in New York City. Each one of my students has individual goals ranging from improvements in vocabulary, writing, reading, cognition, stuttering, and speech articulation. My students and their families lack the resources required for academic, speech, and language improvements. I try my best to provide these resources to help them succeed in school and to improve their self-esteem.
My Project
Appearance is everything. My students will be more enticed to read if they have easy access to a mobile book library! Not only can this library can be rolled around the therapy room, the books will be organized into categorized bins. When books are organized and labeled it will be easy to find a specific book to delve into. My students will not need to waste time looking for a specific book, they can easily find which book they want based on level or theme. The added bonus of a mobile library is that it can be shared with all students who receive speech and language services.
