Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach first graders to fifth graders but all of them struggle with self-management skills. They learn in the general education class with non-disabled peers but learn differently due to dyslexia and/or learning disabilities.
They need a variety of supplemental aids that prompt their memory and make things more concrete as they work.
Specific directions about how to do things makes task processing much easier.
My Project
I want to give them (and make them) some visuals that will help them to see how we can compartmentalize what they use all day. Being organized does not come naturally to my kids. and must be taught.
Desk organizers would be invaluable for my students to help them stay organized as papers and materials accumulate throughout the day.
A hanging desk caddy will have colored folders for papers that they are still working on as well as things that will go home that day. Pockets for art supplies, sanitizer, and water bottles will keep the inside of the desk free for books and subject notebooks.
