My Students
"The Only Thing That Is Constant Is Change" - Heraclitus
My speech therapy room is the 30 minute revolving door! I think it is highly important to change things up in the classroom to keep students engaged and eager to learn but still maintaining a routine and an acceptable standard.
My students are in grades Kindergarten to 8th grade.
They are from low income families or single parent homes. Students in first grade are housed in trailers and some of the Kindergarten classes are in a building located across the street. Many of my students have difficult home lives and miss out on the pleasures of being a child. My school is a welcoming environment where all of the teachers work together to keep the students best interests in mind and their needs met. I would like to supply my students with everything they could possibly need to succeed in life and enjoy learning while in speech therapy.
My Project
My students can use the materials I have requested in many ways. When I provide therapy in the lunchroom the whiteboard will be used to provided spelling of words or list directions. The board can also be used for students to practice writing letters and words or practice phonemic awareness. My older students can use the whiteboard to add prefixes/suffixes to words presented to them or to identify parts of speech using different color markers. When working on literacy or parts of speech the different color highlighters or markers can be used to identify differences. Each student will receive a "Speech Folder" where their work will be stored and organized. The hole puncher will allow pages to be fastened into the folders to prevent misplacing. During the different seasons, students like seeing their work posted around the room, the materials requested will allow that to be possible. For the winter board, students will write why they are individual on a snowflake cut from colored paper.
This donations will make a big improvement to my students and my speech therapy room.
This will allow me to change up the lesson plans, work at off site locations effectively for my students and keep my students organized and on task. With the creative supplies my students will be able to use their creative side and personalize their work.
