My Students

My kids struggle at home and at school. They come to me from high poverty households and need a lot of attention and care. These kids work hard and want to do well in school. They just don't always have the tools. These kids are good, hard working kids who don't always have the best foundations. I want to give them the tools they need to level the playing field for them as much as I can. My kids CAN be successful... I just need a little help equipping them.

My Project

Our kids have desks in our classroom but they have so many books and items to keep up with, it's overwhelming! They're always shuffling books and workbooks around, picking items up off the floor, and trying to find things they need to switch classes.

Our desks are small for 5th graders and storage space is at a premium.

Our kids are forced to keep some items in their bookbags which are kept in the center room between classrooms. If they need a pencil or a notebook, they are constantly going in and out of the classroom, often causing a disruption.

The Big Cubby Storage system will be a wonderful addition to our classroom. My kids have 3 different workbooks for Reading and 3 different workbooks for Math. When you add 3 five-subject notebooks, one for each core subject, to the mix, my kids have nowhere to keep all their belongings. Our building is over 75 years old and it wasn't designed with today's students in mind. We literally have nowhere to keep books, notebooks, headphones, etc. The Big Cubby Storage system is 4 feet tall, 4 feet wide, and about a foot and a half deep... just the right size for rising 6th graders and all their stuff!

I want my kids to have a calm and organized place to learn that can help them focus and be their best!
