My Project
My Chinese language students are full of curiosity, creativity, and determination. They come from diverse backgrounds and bring a wide range of interests to the classroom, but they are united by a shared desire to explore a new language and culture. Many are learning Chinese for the first time, and I’m constantly inspired by their enthusiasm and willingness to take on the challenge of learning characters and tones.
This project will help my students build a deeper connection to the Chinese language through visual and creative expression.
The two-pocket folders with prongs will help them stay organized by storing vocabulary sheets, classwork, and writing assignments in one place. The blank journals will be used as creative sketchbooks, where students can draw, illustrate, and visually interpret the meaning of Chinese characters. Rather than memorizing characters in a rigid way, they will be encouraged to explore the beauty and meaning behind each one through art, story, and personal connection. My goal is to make learning Chinese joyful, expressive, and deeply meaningful.
