I am so fortunate to work with a group of students who are unique and special in many different ways. I work with special needs students in kindergarten through third grade. All of my students require full-time special education support in order to help increase their skills in each area of development. Most of my students are nonverbal and have behavior challenges. My students usually join my classroom when they are in kindergarten and stay with me through their elementary school years.
We are located in a public, inner-city school, in a high-poverty neighborhood, where students receive free breakfast and lunch every day.
My goal is to create an environment that can grow with my students while remaining appropriate for my new kindergarten friends who I receive every year. Thank you for taking the time to learn about the amazing students who I work with.
My Project
My students require engaging activities to help keep them interested and motivated to learn. Hands-on materials help my students make connections to our monthly units and read-aloud stories, as well as develop their communication skills. I love being able to meet each of my student's needs in creative and interactive ways. Since all of my students are working on different skills and need different modifications, each lesson that I teach includes a variety of materials.
In order to keep student materials organized and easily accessible for me and the support staff, I am asking for storage bins, binders, and laminating pouches.
These supplies will help to ensure that I can continue providing meaningful and engaging learning opportunities for all of my students.
