My Students

I am an educator in San Juan County, Utah. Our school district is within the boundaries of the Navajo and Ute reservations. As a result, we have a Native American population of over 50% of our student population.

These materials will help with increasing small group instruction within our diverse students with a substantial ELL & "homeless" population.

Therefore, we have students with limited access to language and need to improve our small group and instructional settings.

Within the small group instruction, students will have multiple opportunities to increase their language arts skill set. Within our diverse population increasing the opportunities to engage in vocabulary, reading, and writing within our school is paramount.

My Project

The materials and supplies I am requesting for my students will help with classroom organization. The organization of materials is critical for our concrete learners who are more successful when organization and routine are provided regularly. The organizational baskets, shelves, etc will be placed on the tables in our classroom and will help the Writers & Readers workshop. I teach 5 ELA classes and organizing daily bell ringers, novels, and supplies is a tough process. With these organizational tools, students will have a place to store in-class assignments. These organizational tools will be helpful to increase our student routines and organization.
