This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
As a teacher I am ready to take risks with my students and try new activities to approach our learning with a curiosity to discover answers and ask more questions. However, we need some help to stay organized, anchor ourselves in visual charts, and keep our systems running smoothly.
My students are mostly English Language learners in a large urban elementary school.
They work hard and come to school every day with smiles on their faces. They are bright, but many of them are performing below grade level as they become emergent bilinguals. I am so proud of their progress, and I continue to push them academically to achieve their rigorous goals.
My Project
My students learn best when information is presented and anchored visually in our classroom. Because many of them are still learning English, I need this laminator to preserve the charts and vocabulary words on our classroom walls. My students also practice their math facts daily, and this requires a lot of paper cutting in order to meet our daily routine, and use the least amount of paper possible. The paper cutter will save my time and hands as we attempt to preserve our earth while learning rigorously. Finally, the mail organizer will help my students collect all hand outs and homework assignments. This will streamline our routines and allow us more time to devote to learning.
This project will improve the organization of our learning space and allow myself more time to cultivate learning and less time cropping and creating materials.
With your help, we will be able to watch our knowledge grow visually on our classroom walls and maintain our communication and homework procedures. Thank you!
