My Students

Remember walking into your new classroom on the first day of school, the excitement you felt when you saw new materials set out before you? My Preschool students need structure and organization to begin their journey toward college!

Students in my classroom are from a public charter school in DC.

Among the many things my students have in common (including being three year old girls and living in DC), my scholars all live in low income areas and are not always provided with materials that will broaden their learning experiences. Ours is the first all girls school in DC. We are dedicated to educating girls and empowering them to strive for greatness. We stress the importance of college and the slogan "Educate, Empower, Excel."

My Project

My classroom would greatly benefit from easy clean craft trays, table top writing centers, supply boxes and a paper center. These simple yet important organizational resources will help students set the tone for a captivating journey toward our end goal of college readiness. The school can be scary especially for the youngest of learners, preschool students. Students will feel at ease when entering an organized classroom in which everything is labeled and has a permanent spot within the room. My school is located in an underprivileged area which means that any "extras" we need in the classroom are not likely to be purchased by the school and in the end the teachers donate their own money purchase these materials. Your donation will help allow teachers and students to these important materials.

Each classroom is made up of 2 teachers and 19 scholars. Our grade level as a whole is made up of 8 teachers and 76 scholars.
