This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I work with the most amazing kiddos. They are smart, hardworking and beautiful young people. They also happen to have learning differences and need more support to access the general education curriculum.

Each of my students has an Individual Education Plan (IEP).

Each IEP is a plan that includes goals and accommodations to help a student meet individual outcomes or goals beyond their current skills.

Additionally, my students live in East Oakland, California, and face many obstacles including poverty, homelessness, learning English, and access to drugs and violence. Despite all of these factors working against them, they continue to preserve by attending classes, engaging with their peers, and working towards a better future for themselves and their families.

I am asking for your help in purchasing a label maker. I plan to use this to label objects in our classroom to immerse students in a text rich environment. This will also help us stay organized and encourage students to be autonomous and independent.

Your donation will help my students get the education that they rightfully deserve.
