This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I can remember being in school as a child and having SO much fun. I always wanted to be the "teacher's helper" and help clean and organize the classroom, especially at the end of the school year when it was time to pack up the classroom for the next school year.
I teach 3rd grade in a Title I school district.
What does this mean? Just about 95% of our students qualify for free or reduced price lunches in our district. Most of my students have seen more in their 8 short years of life than most people will experience in a lifetime. Despite the difficulties my students face on a daily basis they are resilient. These kids are some of the most hard-working, determined children I have ever met.
My Project
These new bookcases store will help my students greatly. It may seem odd that furniture would be beneficial to students, but it is. Being able to keep materials organized and in their right places allows for a cleaner classroom and for quick and easy transitions.
There are a lot of factors that play into a child's ability to learn.
The classroom environment is one of the major factors that impacts learning. Having an organized space will allow my students to be able to transition quickly and smoothly and allow for maximum instructional time.
