This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Did you think of your New Year's resolution yet? Our resolution is to stay organized!
I teach 14 special needs students in a fifth grade classroom.
They are classified as learning disabled, speech and language impaired, or emotionally disturbed.
My school receives Title I funding, and some of my students just can't afford the supplies they need.
My Project
One day a student brought in a binder to organize his homework. Needless to say, every other student became OBSESSED with the idea of having a binder. The only problem is, the binders don't fit in their desks! The binder storage center will keep my students' binders off of the floor and out of the way while they work.
I must create a portfolio for every student in my class, and a lack of folders makes it difficult for me to do that. My students take pride in their portfolios and are sure to put their best work in them, but most struggle with organization. I have been working with them on keeping their desks organized. Their portfolios are the next task we need to tackle.
This project will help my students (and me) achieve the goal of becoming more organized in 2014!
It will also keep my students safe from tripping over binders and folders. Any amount will aid in our next step for the new year.
