Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
"A place for everything and everything in its place" yet in my classroom that is not the case. My students need a place to store math manipulatives so they can have easy access to them and instructional time is not wasted. Similarly, they need a drying rack to dry their precious masterpieces.
My students are kinder and first grade students with learning disabilities.
They are enthusiastic students whom are ready to learn and be challenged. Even though the school is located in a low socio-economic community, we strive to provide the best education. They have the privilege to attend a school where they are valued. Currently, it is difficult to be funded for current classroom furniture that suits the needs of my students . Therefore, I want to provide my students the means to become organized and keep a clean and safe environment.
My Project
Students will use the storage cabinet with the clear bins to keep materials organize. Similarly, they will use the drying rack to store their art projects using the capitalized foam letters. They will no longer use the tops of shelves or the floor on the hallway to dry their paintings. They are going to be actively involved in their learning while enjoying the accessibility that these resources are going to provide.
Students are going to be able to do whole group, small group and independent instruction with these materials as it will be hands-on and very interactive. I foresee my students being involved during math because they will be choosing an activity that is accessible to them.
I want to be able to involve my students in their learning to make it meaningful and fun in an organized and accessible classroom.
These materials will change my students' lives because they will be learning organizational skills, which can be transferable in all areas of their lives.
Knowing that everything has a place and everything needs to be in its place at this young age will help them succeed later in life. In addition, my students need an organized classroom so there is structure and organization. Therefore, I ask you to provide my students with these resources because I know that they will greatly benefit from them.
