Help me give my students the gift of organization to help them develop their own self-management skills and greater control over their environment.
FULLY FUNDED! Dr. Muhammad's classroom raised $491

My Students
I teach in the neighborhood that I grew up in. Fifth Ward, in Houston, is one of the most impoverished neighborhoods in Texas. My students face some of the most adverse conditions on a daily basis. They still strive to use education to better their situations. Many of them lack access to basic needs (food, clothing, shelter, utilities), and nearly all of them lack meaningful access to technology.
The purpose of this program is to allow for the purchase of classroom organizational materials and school supplies that allow for small group instruction to improve their academic outcomes, as well as materials for the school's rooftop garden, which is maintained by my students.
My Project
The materials will allow me to design a classroom where students can work independentl, and exercise greater control over their environment and learning outcomes. The materials allow me to better implement small groups and independent learning activities to improve academic and behavioral outcomes.
Behavior is impacted as the design of the classroom will allow students to self-regulate and make decisions about their learning and peer interaction.
Students will be able to make decisions based upon their preferred learning styles and the materials will allow the teacher to present material in multiple modalities. These will positively impact student achievement in the science lab.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
