My Students

I am a Special Education teacher in a Third Grade Integrated Co-Teach Class where there are Special Education students learning alongside general education students.

Our school consists of culturally and linguistically diverse students within a low socioeconomic community.

This past year has been a challenging one with students learning remotely. Children have suffered academically, but moreover, socially and emotionally. Returning back to the classroom is challenging but my students are eager to learn.

My Project

How easy would it be for my students to grab the materials they need for centers and go? Can you imagine the excitement of being able to borrow books from the class library and take them home to read and share? This cart and book baggies would be a dream in our classroom. The cart is a perfect place to keep our ELA and math centers organized and readily available. This cart would also teach organization and independence skills. Something so simple as a cart can make our days run smooth which of course means success!

Developing independence, organizational skills and becoming a good reader is crucial!

Becoming a good reader is one of the most important skills our young learners will face throughout their educational experience. Reading in my classroom is very important and is a daily part of their homework routine.

Book baggies will help keep independent reading books safe and protected from getting damaged. The books that students borrow are easily squished and ripped due to a ton of books being piled in their bag. Book shopping would be so much more fun when they have their very own baggies to shop with! Keeping books from getting damaged will also ensure that year after year my kiddos will be able to enjoy a good book!
