My Students
My students always come to music eager to learn and experience music in new ways. They try to live out the motto of making the best version of themselves each class by the wonderful character traits music can teach a child.
The students at my school come from very diverse backgrounds from very low socio-economic to the affluent, different ethnic backgrounds, family lifestyles, and learning abilities.
Despite their many differences, they always work together to make wonderful music. They understand that to make this happen, they must work together.
My Project
My students love to play on the barred instruments (xylophones, metallophones, glockenspiels) during our music lessons. Unfortunately we do not have enough instruments yet to have the entire class play together at the same time.
Time can be used much more efficiently during our classes with more students playing at the same time.
As of right now, students pair up with a partner while each one takes turns playing rhythms and melodies they are learning in class. While this has been working, it takes a lot of patience with the students and it takes longer before we can all move onto the next learning activity.
