Orff-Schulwerk Level II Teacher Training

Teacher Professional Development: I need to attend the Orff-Schulwerk Level II music teacher training course at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. <profdevpilot>

FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Lawrence's classroom raised $633

My Students

My kindergarten through fifth grade students come from a wide variety of cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds, but what they all have is a playful love of music. They love to sing, play instruments, dance, move, improvise and create. Our Orff-Schulwerk classroom is a great place to learn.

I have taught kindergarten-fifth grade music for sixteen years in two different states.

Young students are my passion. I discovered Orff-Schulwerk early in my career. I was able to take Level I six years ago but haven't been able to take Level II until now. I am excited for this opportunity.

My Project

I am requesting funding to attend the Orff-Schulwerk Level II training course. Attending this course will help me deepen my skills in teaching music through rhythmic speech, singing, playing instruments, movement, and improvisation. Orff-Schulwerk teachers use poetry, rhymes, games, songs and dances as a starting point to teach children about and help them experience music. By taking this course I will be better prepared to help my students develop imagination and creativity. I will learn how to create my own melodies and harmonies and through doing so I will learn how to help my students create their own. As I become a more skilled musician on instruments like recorder and xylophone, I will be able to help my students grow into confident musicians on these instruments. I will grow as an movement educator and help my students express themselves through movement as well.

By taking Orff-Schulwerk Level II, I will become far more skilled at teaching singing, movement, instruments, and improvisation.

As I become more confident in my teaching, my students will enjoy the benefits by becoming more confident in their music making and music creation. Our classroom will become even more student-centered, which will lead to even more imaginative and creative activities. I can't wait to experience my students' musical growth!
