Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our city is one of low income and high poverty. All of my students are eligible for Title I, free breakfast and lunch, and are living way below the poverty line. All of my students face challenges both in and out of our classroom. Because of this, I feel that one of the most important aspects of my job is providing them with a safe and loving environment where they can grow as learners.
Students want to feel as though they're part of a community.
Research has shown that children who feel a sense of identity within a group are the more successful in school. My students and I will work together to create a safe and loving classroom community.
My Project
With a year of virtual learning, organization will be so very important.
I plan on trying to push organization for my students (and myself) as much as possible so that the bulk of our day can be spent on learning.
We will use the mailbox to organize all materials that will be going home. I will use the wall organizers for easy storage of student work and portfolios, in addition to materials gathered from trainings to be used with students. The wireless door bell will be a way to quickly gather student attention for easy transitions.
