Orchestra Shoulder Rests and Rock Stops; Can't Play Without Them!
Help me give my students the equipment they need to learn how to play their instruments. The violins, violas, cellos, and basses require these items to allow the students to properly position and play their instruments.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My middle school students are divided into classes of 6th graders in Beginning Orchestra, and 7th & 8th graders in Advanced Orchestra. This year, 53% of all the students needed to borrow a school instrument to use in class. Our student body is quite diverse, with no racial/ethnic group totaling more than 33% of the total student population. Last year, 21% of our students received free breakfast and lunch.
My Project
Violins and violas require shoulder rests to hold and play the instrument properly. Cellos and basses require rock stops to place the bottom end-pins in, so the instrument won't slip out from under the student while they play. The school has more instruments to loan out than the supply of these required items.
Without these items, the students will not be able to properly play their instruments, and would have to purchase these items themselves.
The school has many instruments that are missing these items, due to wear or breakage.
More than a third of students from low‑income households
